Building a Future-Ready Financial Workforce
Zopa Bank and ClearScore have spearheaded the creation of Jobs2030, an industry coalition aiming to equip 100,000 UK financial services professionals with essential skills in generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) by 2030.
The initiative brings together digital challengers like Allica Bank and Funding Circle alongside established institutions such as NatWest, professional services firms including EY, and leading academic centers like Oxford Saïd and Alliance Manchester Business School. This represents a significant moment of collaboration across the financial sector. ## Addressing a Critical Skills Gap
Research indicates that while GenAI could deliver £1.8 billion in cost savings for UK banks by 2030, it also poses displacement risks for up to 27,000 roles—particularly in back-office and retail banking functions. Jobs2030 seeks to transform this challenge into an opportunity by proactively developing workforce capabilities. ## Practical Training with Real-World Applications
The curriculum focuses on Applied GenAI, with initial courses covering compliance, engineering, operations, and product management. Hosted on the Zenarate learning platform, modules integrate directly with leading LLMs like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, enabling live simulations and personalized AI coaching. ## Collaborative Approach to Upskilling
Jobs2030 operates on a ‘B2B2C’ model where member organizations co-create training content in their areas of expertise—ensuring relevance while expanding access for all participants. This collaborative approach reflects the view that building AI literacy requires collective effort. ## Broad Industry Support
The initiative has garnered endorsements from Innovate Finance, the City of London Corporation, and the Financial Services Skills Commission, demonstrating widespread recognition of the need to proactively address workforce transformation in the age of AI.
