Paystack Unveils Major Dashboard Overhaul After 10 Years
One of Africa’s leading payments technology companies, Paystack, has launched a completely redesigned dashboard—its first major update in a decade. The new interface introduces an AI-native Command Centre that allows businesses to query their payment data using plain language.
The redesign addresses the increasing complexity merchants face as Paystack’s product offerings have expanded. While the original dashboard served as a central hub for monitoring transactions and managing payments, it had become less efficient over time.
Key Features of the New Dashboard:
- AI Command Centre: Allows users to ask questions in natural language (e.g., “Why is revenue down this week?”) and receive direct answers with visualizations.
- Simplified Navigation: Reorganized into two core sections—Payments and Products—for improved discoverability.
- Full Mobile Parity: Consistent experience across desktop and mobile devices, including a dark mode option.
- Enhanced Analytics: Clearer data presentation and reporting capabilities
“Businesses don’t come to their dashboard because they want to click through pages. They come because they have questions,” explained Dara Assim-Ita, Senior Product Designer at Paystack.
The new system combines GPT models with structured data retrieval to deliver relevant responses in the most appropriate format—whether as text, tables, or charts.
Behind the Design:
To support this functionality, Paystack developed Project Canvas API, which manages conversations and ensures responses are grounded in real merchant data while adhering to security and compliance standards.
The design process involved extensive merchant research, including usability testing and direct feedback sessions. The company prioritized making the dashboard feel less like a static reporting tool and more like an intelligent command centre that helps businesses understand their payment performance and make informed decisions.
“We are at a point where artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming integral to how businesses operate, and Paystack is committed to being on that curve for our merchants,” Assim-Ita added.
The new dashboard is available today, with more of Paystack’s products expected to transition to the updated architecture over time. Merchants can provide feedback by contacting support@paystack.com.
