HyperDev Secures Pre-Seed Funding to Transform AI Code into Production Applications
A South African AI startup called HyperDev has raised over $1 million (R16 million) in pre-seed funding, signaling investor confidence in solutions that extend beyond simple code generation. The company is building a platform that helps users convert AI-generated code into fully deployed applications—websites, mobile apps, and software products.
The round was backed by European and UK venture capital firms, highlighting a growing trend of investment in companies solving real workflow challenges rather than just offering incremental improvements through AI features. With its user base nearing 100,000 less than three months after launch, HyperDev is entering a competitive market where coding assistants are becoming commonplace.
Addressing the Deployment Challenge
HyperDev’s founders argue that while generating code has become relatively easy, shipping reliable software remains considerably harder. The platform addresses this by offering features like “Guided Mode,” which helps users transform AI-generated drafts into production-ready assets—even those without technical expertise can work with developers to refine and deploy their projects.
This focus on the deployment process fills a gap that’s becoming increasingly apparent in the AI development landscape. Many developers spend significant time debugging, integrating, and deploying code generated by AI tools—HyperDev aims to reduce this friction.
Experienced Founders Lead the Way
The company’s credibility is bolstered by its founding team: Piotr Sobolewski (CTO) previously worked at OpenAI on technologies behind ChatGPT, while Riaz Moola (co-founder) brings experience from Google’s AI systems division. This combination of technical depth and distribution access appealed to investors.
“HyperDev pairs advanced AI expertise with access to HyperionDev’s developer community,” said lead investor Falk Albers of Reinsurance Intelligence Quotient (RIQ) and Loom Ventures, “allowing it to build proprietary technology around software delivery instead of relying solely on third-party models.”
Early Traction Signals Promise
Data from early users suggests HyperDev’s approach is resonating—the company reports that Guided Mode has nearly doubled user retention compared to its standard interface. The platform is already being used across 14 countries to build a variety of applications, including mobile apps, fintech products, and e-commerce platforms.
By targeting entrepreneurs, students, and business owners who want to create digital products without large engineering teams, HyperDev is expanding access to software development beyond professional engineers. The company’s emphasis on support throughout the entire development process has been a key driver of adoption—particularly for users new to modern software workflows.
