Flutterwave Founder Earns Spot on FinTech Magazine’s Top 100 List

Olugbenga “GB” Agboola, founder and CEO of Flutterwave, has been recognized as one of the world’s leading fintech executives by FinTech Magazine. He is the only Nigerian to make this year’s prestigious list, which includes industry titans like Patrick Collison (Stripe), Brian Armstrong (Coinbase), and Jack Dorsey (Block).

This recognition comes amid a period of rapid expansion for Flutterwave as it evolves beyond payments into comprehensive financial infrastructure solutions. The company recently secured a Nigerian Microfinance Bank license, enabling direct fund management and expanding service offerings to include business accounts, payments, payouts, and treasury services.

Strategic Acquisitions Strengthen Position

Flutterwave has bolstered its capabilities through key acquisitions, including Mono, an open banking platform that provides access to vital financial data. The company is also deepening its focus on cross-border payments with stablecoin-powered products designed for African markets.

With over $50 billion in total transaction value processed through more than one billion transactions, Flutterwave’s valuation has surpassed $3.2 billion thanks to investments from Ripple and Circle. Agboola’s leadership is positioning the company as a frontrunner in reshaping financial technology both in Africa and globally.

This accolade underscores not only Flutterwave’s success but also the growing influence of African innovators on the international fintech stage, symbolizing a new wave of talent transforming how money moves around the world.
