Europe Poised to Unlock Trillion-Euro AI Potential

As artificial intelligence continues its global ascent, Europe is making a concerted effort to transform momentum into tangible economic gains. From June 30 to July 1, 2026, Berlin will host GITEX AI EUROPE, bringing together tech leaders, enterprise executives, founders, and policymakers from over 80 countries.

The summit arrives as the continent’s technology sector is projected to exceed a valuation of €1.5 trillion – a clear sign of its maturing digital ecosystem. Backed by key Berlin institutions like the Senate Department for Economics and Berlin Partner, GITEX AI EUROPE aims to forge international collaborations, address data sovereignty concerns, and accelerate investment in deep tech ventures.

Why Berlin?

The selection of Berlin as host underscores its position as a leading European innovation hub. The city boasts:

  • Over €169 billion in startup ecosystem value
  • 57 tech unicorns
  • The fourth-largest pool of AI engineering talent in Europe (more than 9,000 professionals)

As Vice Mayor and Senator for Economic Affairs Franziska Giffey noted, Berlin offers a unique gateway for cross-border investments and technical partnerships – allowing the continent to build a digital architecture that balances innovation with security.

Policy Focus on Sovereignty

The summit will address critical questions about Europe’s ability to power, regulate, and scale its data infrastructure. Federal Minister for Digital Transformation Dr. Karsten Wildberger emphasized the need to leverage Germany’s industrial base, enterprise datasets, and compute installations rather than simply replicating solutions from elsewhere.

Global Tech Powerhouses Assemble

The event will feature an impressive lineup of exhibitors including AWS, Cloudflare, HPE, Salesforce, DeepL, and others. Generative AI leaders like OpenAI and Google will host masterclasses focused on practical applications – moving beyond marketing showcases to deliver tangible engineering knowledge.

First-time national pavilions from Austria, Canada, Greece, and Japan will highlight the global scale of the event, alongside strong representation from German industrial giants like Bosch and BASF.

Funding the Future of AI

A key focus is the North Star Europe program, showcasing 500+ hand-selected startups in quantum security, industrial automation, and other deep tech domains. These companies will network directly with over 600 investors managing a combined US$1 trillion in assets – including institutions like KfW Capital and UniCredit.
