ERP Systems Aren’t Always the Complete Solution

Many businesses find that implementing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system doesn’t automatically solve all their financial management challenges. A common issue is that critical processes like supplier reconciliations and debtor follow-ups continue to occur outside the ERP, often in spreadsheets or manual systems.

The disconnect creates several problems: a lack of audit trails, difficulty generating accurate reports, and increased risk of errors. Finance teams end up without a comprehensive view of transactions, making it harder to identify discrepancies and ensure data integrity.

As Avril Howes, VP of innovation and business applications at Braintree, points out, this situation leaves organizations with an incomplete digital record - the ERP is live, but critical financial processes remain in legacy systems.
