Dr. Khalid Khalafalla has been appointed Officer-in-Charge of the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC), a Shariah-based multilateral insurer and a part of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, as of May 19, 2024.
Having held numerous positions within the IsDB Group, Dr. Khalafalla brings a plethora of experience and knowledge to this position. He served as H.E., the President of IsDB,’s Principal Executive Assistant most recently. He held the positions of Acting Head of the IsDB Group Investment Promotion Technical Assistance Program (ITAP) and Lead Underwriter at ICIEC before that.
Dr. Khalafalla’s previous experience at ICIEC as a Lead Underwriter makes him well-equipped to lead the organization in providing Shariah-compliant insurance solutions for investment and export credit risks. His role as Acting Head of the ITAP program also demonstrates his ability to promote investment and support economic development within member countries of the IsDB Group.
