For the second year in a row, Afreximbank won two renowned African Banker Awards: “Deal of the Year (Infrastructure)” and “Bank of the Year.”
The title of ‘Bank of the Year’ highlights Afreximbank’s exceptional financial results as well as its initiatives to broaden its clientele, attract new clients, and promote inclusivity within the banking industry.
Afreximbank won the ‘Deal of the Year—Infrastructure’ category for its USD 155 million investment in Great Horn Investments Holding (GHIH), which financed development initiatives in the Damerjog Industrial Development Free Trade Zone of Djibouti. With the support of this collaboration, Djibouti’s position as a hub for transshipment and logistics in the region will be strengthened, promoting intra-African trade and regional economic expansion.
In accepting the awards, Prof. Benedict Oramah, President of Afreximbank, highlighted the collaborative efforts of the bank’s committed employees, clients, and partners in advancing Africa’s development agenda.
“We are extremely delighted to win both the Bank of the Year and the Deal of the Year for Infrastructure, as these awards underscore our expertise in development financing. I accept these awards on behalf of the hardworking staff of Afreximbank, our customers and partners, and also the Alliance for African Multilateral Financial Institutions, who work tirelessly to make the change that Africa needs. Many of our members have excelled in tonight’s ceremony, and this demonstrates the magnitude of their continual contribution towards meeting the development needs of our great continent, including infrastructure, trade, and SME lending, among others.”The post Prestigious Bank Wins African Bank of the Year Title Again! first appeared on IT News Africa | Business Technology, Telecoms and Startup News.
