iONLINE, a company specializing in IoT connectivity solutions, has partnered with eSIM expert Workz to tackle connectivity issues and respond to the growing call for sustainability. Together, they’ve created an innovative hybrid eSIM solution with remote online and offline switching capabilities.
Businesses encounter various hurdles when managing connected assets on the move. These challenges include facing expensive roaming charges when venturing outside subscribed coverage zones and experiencing signal loss in weak or low coverage areas, resulting in reduced device visibility and hampered critical tasks. Moreover, managing these changes requires dedicated resources, potentially impacting operational efficiency.
The solution aims to help businesses reduce operating costs and prevent service disruptions by automating network switching as conditions change. The eSIM component enables on-demand network selection, freeing companies from being tied to the network options assigned to the SIM at manufacture.
Additionally, the offering presents a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional SIMs. Custom-sized modules utilize 50% less plastic, and rewritable eSIM technology allows for remote network updates, eliminating the need for physical replacement of the card.
Through its global private network, iONLINE provides secure, high-speed connectivity in over 189 countries across 700+ carrier networks. FlexiSIM, the result of iONLINE’s partnership with Workz, was initially launched in South Africa and the United Kingdom in 2023 and is set to debut in the United States later this year.
Notable companies benefiting from the solution include Fujifilm, AIoTSense, Brightblade, Trellis Works, Online Direct, and Amber Group. Fidelity ADT, the largest security services provider to medium and large-scale enterprises in South Africa, employs thousands of FlexiSIM cards daily to stay connected, safeguarding various infrastructure sectors.
