CLG Global has appointed Yves Ollivier as the Managing Director of its Republic of Congo branch.
CLG is a pan-African legal and commercial advisory organization. To strengthen its position in Africa and provide greater support for hydrocarbon projects, the company recently established a new office in Pointe Noire, the nation’s hub for oil and gas. In his role as Managing Director, Ollivier will be in charge of the nation’s operations and offer clients in the oil and gas industry strategic support as well as specialist legal advice.
Ollivier is a graduate of Caen University with an LLM in business law and the Paris Bar School with a Certificate of Aptitude for the Legal Profession. He has a wealth of knowledge from working for several French law firms and the large French energy corporation TotalEnergies. He has provided commercial, legal, and advisory help to various clients and companies in the Republic of Congo and Cameroon, demonstrating his breadth of competence. Furthermore, Ollivier co-organized Business Talk Congo, which ran from March 2018 to January 2020 and facilitated discussions and conferences on agriculture, the digital industry, local content in the oil and mining sector, and the development of the mining industry in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Republic of Congo presents great investment potential as one of Africa’s top oil producers and a developing natural gas producer. The nation wants to grow its natural gas sector and quadruple its hydrocarbon output to 500,000 barrels per day. With the first cargo from the Congo LNG project shipped this year, the market has become more competitive and the demand for legal services has increased.
Driven by new geological surveys, international corporations including Perenco, Eni, and TotalEnergies are pushing exploration and development in partnership with the national oil business, Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo. In order to boost the development of the deep offshore Moho Nord field in the Republic of Congo, TotalEnergies has announced a $600 million investment to bolster exploration and production efforts in the country. Furthermore, Lianzi, Nkossa, Nsoko II, and Moho-Bilondo are among the fields in which Trident Energy has acquired interests.
Global and regional service providers find plenty of chances in the Congolese oil and gas sector, in addition to exploration and production firms. For instance, the international oilfield services provider Saipem was awarded a contract to carry out work on the Congo LNG project. These prospects should increase as the oil and gas industry expands, leading the government to call for foreign investment in order to reach production targets. With its wide industry experience and presence in multiple African markets, CLG is well-positioned to become the go-to legal and business advice company for the Republic of Congo’s oil and gas sector. This growth generates new transactions that the firm supports.
“Our new Pointe Noire office in the Republic of Congo leverages our leading energy sector brand, built over many years by top international, regional, and local lawyers, to support our global client base in African energy markets,” says Zion Adeoye, CEO of CLG. “Having Yves onboard gives CLG the ability to provide full-service support to our international clients in Congo-Brazzaville.”
Ollivier will be leading CLG’s operations in the Republic of Congo, which will involve providing clients in a variety of industries with complete legal and strategic advisory services, with an emphasis on the oil and gas industry. The post CLG’s New Managing Director in Congo: Yves Ollivier first appeared on IT News Africa | Business Technology, Telecoms and Startup News.
