Powered by Alibaba Cloud’s technology, the ALP Cloud offers top-tier cloud computing services tailored for the Mozambican market.
“The collaboration between Alibaba Cloud and BCX enables us to bring the latest technologies through a local company that understands the complexities of businesses operating on our continent,” said Jonas Bogoshi, CEO of BCX.
“We are committed to keeping local data within Africa’s borders,” affirmed Jan Bouwer, Chief Solutions Officer at BCX. He elaborated that the ALP Cloud ensures data remains within Mozambique, addresses data sovereignty and compliance requirements, and offers additional benefits such as redundancy through neighboring availability zones and on-the-ground local support for customers.
The ALP services are notable for their use of local currency billing. Bogoshi stressed that by making this choice, the difficulty caused by the volatile exchange rate is lessened. African businesses may better manage their cloud service expenses with BCX’s cost-predictability guarantees, which are based on local currency billing.
The BCX Alibaba Cloud Academy is an interesting new project from the alliance that aims to upskill local people in cloud-related capabilities. The Academy has collaborated with African universities with great success. Universidade São Tomás de Moçambique (USTM), BCX, and Alibaba Cloud inked a Memorandum of Understanding during the occasion. Through this partnership, USTM will incorporate Alibaba Cloud certifications into its Computer Science curriculum, giving students access to Alibaba Cloud Academy’s online training courses to improve their academic experience and get them ready for the ever-evolving technology world.
It is a calculated decision to include these certifications in the degree in order to give graduates credentials and in-demand industry abilities that will increase their employability.
“We’re committed to growing together with our partner BCX and providing them with cutting-edge technologies to enable innovation and business growth in Africa. With BCX’s local expertise and Alibaba Cloud’s global technology experience, we aim to build a thriving local ecosystem to empower businesses through digital transformation,” said Eric Wan, General Manager of Alibaba Cloud Middle East, Turkey, and Africa.
